Embrace the chilly weather with a day of winter fun at the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival in Gangwon-do province. Each January the clear, fresh water of Hwacheon Stream freezes over, and thousands of locals and visitors alike go ice fishing for ‘sancheoneo’ (mountain trout). Full-day admission to the festival includes access to one of 60 activities on the frozen ice field including ice-skating, sledding, snowmobile riding, ice soccer and more.
