Escape busy Tokyo with this day trip to the green hills of Katsunuma, Japan’s first wine-producing region. Visit a generations-old winery and taste varieties of wine made from local Koshu grapes. After a crab and ‘shabu-shabu’ feast for lunch, wander through an orchard and bite into juicy fruit that you just picked from tree or vine. Wrap up your day in the country with a stroll around one of the Fuji Five Lakes, and take in surrounding fields of lavender, zinnia or sunflowers, with the iconic Mt Fuji in the background.
